Bernal Hill is going to the dogs!
Yes, there are more tales of kids getting charged and nipped by dogs on Bernal Hill. The more common issue comes with the small kids who are afraid of dogs -- even the friendly ones. Should small children have to be freightened and slobbered by unknown dogs?
I had to laugh when there were more than 20 dogs being walked by what looked to be cell-phone yapping professinal dog walkers.

If the city would allow for more off-leash areas then Bernal Hill wouldn't be so over-run by dogs.
I have dogs and kids, and also live 1 block from Bernal Hill Park.
Many many people from other neighborhoods drive to the hill to walk their dog because there are so few off-leash areas in San Francisco.
If the city (and park and rec)as a whole became more dog-friendly then the few off-leash places would not be so crowded.
Too many dogs in the city! Too many people living in flats or 1 bedroom apts who have a dog in this neighborhood. And the folks who drive twenty minutes to bring their dogs here. You should see the Dog Club at Mission Dolores Park. ;) The poor things get to unleash their frenzy in mob fashion because they have no land to roam around all day. I have lived in Bernal Heights for 25 years and witnessed the return of valuable animal species to the hill, and watch them sublimated by the dogs. The Red Tail Hawks and Perigrene Falcons have a hard time grabbing one of the thousands of gophers on Bernal because of the dogs everywhere. And lets not mention the Coyote which almost brought the circus to town. I think he left when he saw his face in the paper. Hoardes of damn dogs. It's unfortunate that there are so many folks who have an animal companion that is really only a commodity to them.
